On Friday 12 July, Magma poetry magazine will launch its Summer 2019 issue at Foyles, Bristol. Magma is pleased to be publishing over 50 poets in this issue, based around the theme of ‘Work’. A number of the poets in the issue are from Bristol and the Southwest, joining others from around the UK and the rest of the world. Poets published in this issue of Magma will be invited to read at the event, and poets already confirmed include Tom Sastry, Grace Palmer, Terence Dooley, Andrew C Brown and Rebecca Tantony.
Bristol poet Pauline Sewards is co-editor of this issue of Magma and will introduce the night with her co-editor Benedict Newbery. Pauline lives and works in the city and co-hosts Satellite of Love, a monthly poetry and spoken word event in Bristol.
The poems in this issue were selected from a total of over 2000 submitted. As well as fantastic poetry from new and established writers, there are also articles on poetry and and its relationship to work – and all bound by Joff Winterhart’s beautiful cover image.
