Magma 85 ‘Poems for schools’ launches at a school
Join us for the launch of Magma’s ‘Poems for schools’ issue which will be in the Library of the school which the students on its cover and its cover designer attend:
—Fortismere School, Tetherdown,
—Muswell Hill, London N10 1NE
—Thursday 20th April, 7 to 9pm.
—Please book a free ticket on Eventbrite
A wide range of poets – new, early-career and established – will read new poems we think schools should be teaching, with longer sets by Alison Binney, Sita Brahmachari (shortlisted for the Carnegie Medal), Lewis Buxton and Luke Kennard.
Refreshments will be available. Plenty of offstreet parking on the school site.
Coming by public transport. The nearest tube station is East Finchley on the Northern Line High Barnet branch. It’s a brisk 10 to 15 minute walk to the school or catch the 102 or 234 bus from East Finchley Station (bus stop E, 4 stops, alight at Fortismere Avenue). Muswell Hill is also served by the 43, 134 and 299 buses.
Coming by car. Please use the Tetherdown entrance – if you put the school’s postcode N10 1NE into Google Maps, it will direct you to this entrance. Please don’t try to enter the school by Creighton Avenue or Twyford Avenue. There is plenty of parking space in the school, either along the driveway or by following the drive down to a large car park (you will pass the Library where the launch takes place on the way and there will be signs and direction arrows). Beware of fierce speed ramps!
