I like using other people’s things
she said, as we wandered round
the charity shop she called a thrift shop,
fingering this and that.

It means they’ve been broken in.
I get the pleasure,
someone else puts in the donkey work.

Back at my place,
we sipped wine from the new
charity shop glasses,
and watched the bargain DVD.

She sat on the floor, barefoot;
leant towards my husband, looking up
with a face full of smiles.
