Blood snow
by Jack Cooper

Footprints daub Fleming Glacier like red clay on a cave wall,
a broken line from Wordie Bay to the field camp’s blister pack of tents.

Little lakes thawing in their thousands.

Algae blooming like ink drops on blotting paper
or out of season wildflowers.
