Subscribers’ Poem Workshop

What is the Subscribers’ Poem Workshop?

Poetry is when an emotion has found its thought and the thought has found words.
Robert Frost

Having trouble finding quite the right words or form? Not sure whether the imagery or metaphor works? The Subscribers’ Poem Workshop, a regular feature in our e-newsletters, is a great opportunity for those who subscribe to our magazine to get detailed feedback on their work from Magma’s editors.

Please send us a poem, along with any questions you have about it – about form, imagery, content or that line that just doesn’t quite work. One poem will be chosen for publication in each newsletter, alongside helpful feedback from one of our experienced editorial team.

How can I submit a poem for the Workshop?

If you are a magazine subscriber and have a poem which you would like to submit to be workshopped, email it to workshop@magmapoetry.com. Please make sure you include the name under which you have subscribed. Only poems received by email can be considered. All the poems received will be acknowledged.

Poems submitted to Subscribers’ Poem Workshop must not exceed 30 lines in length; must obviously be the subscriber’s own work; must not be a translation or adaptation of an existing work; and must not have already been published on paper. We would ask the poem be included in the body of the text, rather than as an attachment unless it is layout sensitive.
