Magma Competition 2012

Invitation to a Free Reading

We’re delighted to announce details of the Magma Poetry Competition 2012 Celebration Reading and to invite you to the free event being held on 18 February (Monday) at the Studio Theatre at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, at RADA Studios, 16 Chenies Street, London WC1E 7EX – a few minutes’ walk from Goodge Street Underground Station.

Doors open at 6.30 p.m. (pay bar), for the reading at 7.30 p.m. until about 9. Come early for the best seats, or to visit the bar that will be open from 6.30 p.m. where you can buy drinks. Copies of the magazine will be on sale, but entry to the reading is free.

Poets entered two contests: the Judge’s Prize for poems of 11 to 80 lines was judged by the distinguished poet, and National Poet of Wales, Gillian Clarke; and the Magma Editors’ Prize for poems of up to 10 lines which was judged by a panel of Magma Editors.

Poets will read their winning poems, alongside Moniza Alvi, Simon Barraclough, Tom Chivers and Claire Crowther who will be reading specially commissioned short poems.  And we are delighted that Gillian Clarke will be doing a reading of her poems.

We look forward to welcoming you to this free event.
